Synopsis

Archived report: this report was archived on 16 June 2005 and has not been updated. The report provides research and statistics on the data, Internet and ISP markets in Belgium. One of the smaller markets in Europe, Belgium was slow to take to the Internet. Growth accelerated with the release of free access products. The market has matured somewhat, with growth for dual-up access slowing, but faster broadband Internet access is proving to be the next growth sector. Broadband growth has been extremely fast, with both cable and ADSL services combining to give Belgium one of the highest broadband penetration rates in Europe. Internet users almost exactly match the number of home PCs in the country. Although there is competition for data services, Belgacom maintains a stranglehold in most market segments.
