Synopsis

United Asia/Pacific Communications (Asia/Pacific) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of UnitedGlobalCom. Through its 50%-owned affiliate United Australia/Pacific, it has a 55.8% interest in Austar United Communications and in Austar Entertainment, the second largest provider of multi-channel television services in Australia. In December 2001, United Australia/Pacific was unable to fund its expenditures and repay its accrued liabilities, raising substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern. In March 2002, United Australia/Pacific filed for Chapter 11 of the US Bankruptcy Code.
