Synopsis

Formerly known as Telecom Finland, Sonera Corporation provided telecommunications in all sectors in Finland. It had subsidiaries and associated companies in 14 countries and was an international player in mobile, data and media communications. Its key business areas were fixed voice and data services, and wireless voice and data services, with Internet applications spread across these infrastructures. Originally state owned as Telecom Finland, the company began privatisation in 1990. In December 2002, Sonera and Telia completed the merging of their companies.
