Synopsis

PT Satelit Palapa Indonesia (Satelindo) is 100% owned by Indosat, which increased its interest from 7.5% to 75% in May 2001 and acquired the 25% balance from Deutsche Telekom in June 2002. Satelindo is the second largest operator of cellular telecom services in Indonesia, and is one of two licensed Indonesian providers of international telephone services, the other being its parent company Indosat. Satelindo operates Palapa-C, which provides satellite coverage for the Indonesian archipelago and for most of South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. In July 2002, Indosat injected US$75 million into Satelindo, which announced plans to spend US$250 million during 2002 on expansion.
