Synopsis

Listed on the Jakarta, Surabaya and New York stock exchanges, Indosat is the leading provider and former monopoly operator of international telecom services in Indonesia. It also offers local telephony, Internet access and a range of corporate services, and is Indonesia’s second largest mobile telephone company. Indosat operates the Palapa-C2 satellite, and is Indonesian’s representative on Inmarsat and Intelsat. The company’s privatisation was completed in December 2002, with the sale of the state’s 42% stake to ST Telemedia. In November 2003, Indosat merged its subsidiaries Satelindo, IM3 and Bimagraha into itself, taking over all their mobile, international and satellite operations.
