Synopsis
NetEase.com provides one of the most popular Chinese language portals. It attracts millions of users to its Website by offering free services including information, entertainment, email, community chat rooms, Website hosting and e-magazines. Originally dependent on income from online corporate advertising, the main source of income has become online shopping, auctions and fee-based services such as mobile messaging, online games and dating services. After raising capital on the Nasdaq in 2000, NetEase continues to burn its cash reserves. After a record loss, Nasdaq reporting problems and failed attempts to find buyers in 2001, the company performed better in Q1 2002.Related Reports
