Synopsis

This profile was archived in January 2007 and was last updated in September 2004. MobileOne Ltd is Singapore’s second largest mobile operator after SingTel, with a 33% market share. The company also offers paging and International Direct Dialling (IDD) services. MobileOne conducted its IPO on the Singapore Stock Exchange in December 2002, raising $790 million (US$449 million). Post-IPO, vendors Singapore Press Holdings and Keppel Group owned about 14% each, while Cable & Wireless and Pacific Century CyberWorks together had a 12% stake. MobileOne was awarded a third generation (3G) mobile telecom licence in April 2001 and expected to make its first 3G offerings commercially available by the end of 2004.
