Synopsis

Deregulation of telecommunications markets in the Nordic region generally occurred before or in tandem with European Union deregulation. The Internet markets in Scandinavia are well developed and all the countries have penetration levels of over 50%. Growth in the Norwegian Internet market has led to the establishment of a separate Internet complaints authority in September 2001. National behavioural patterns inhibit B2C development but B2B growth is solid in the industrial sectors.
