Synopsis

Previously the government agency Communications Authority of Thailand, CAT Telecom Public Company Ltd, owns Thailand’s international telecommunications infrastructure including its international gateways, satellite and submarine cable networks connections. Until recent times, CAT was the sole provider of international telephony, Internet and CDMA mobile telephony. CAT partners with TOT to provide a GSM mobile service and with Hutchison to provide a CDMA mobile service. Since incorporation in August 2003, CAT Telecom has been in a state of major transition leading up to a possible IPO in 2004/2005.
