Synopsis

This was has been archived and was last updated in March 2007. engin Ltd (engin) is an Australian telecommunications company that provides Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) products services to both residential and business users in Australia. engin was the first broadband telephony service to be widely available to Australian consumers and businesses through retail distribution outlets. Until 2004, engin’s predecessor, Mobile Innovations, operated as a reseller of mobile phone hand-sets and services under the Vodafone network. During 2006 engin has been active in forming partnerships with ISPs in order to further its distribution channels for its VoIP services. The company claims that its services give Australians the opportunity to slash their outgoing call costs by up to 40% from anywhere in Australia. By August 2006 its customer base had risen to 43,000. In September 2006, the Seven Network purchased a 33% in stake in Engin, under a strategic partnership.
