Synopsis

Telefónica Latinoamérica is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Spanish-based Telefónica, operating the group’s Latin American fixed-line networks. It is the leader in four regional markets: Brazil – through Telesp, the dominant fixed-line operator in the state of São Paulo; Argentina – through Telefónica de Argentina (TASA); Chile – through Telefónica CTC; and Peru – through Telefónica del Perú (TdP). Since March 2004, Telefónica Latinoamérica also incorporates: Telefónica Internacional Wholesale Services; Emergia (a fibre optic submarine cable operator); and the Telefónica Empresas companies that operate in America and are primarily responsible for providing data and network services to large corporate clients.
