This profile was archived in June 2006 and was last updated in June 2004. Starting from a small car radio installation workshop in 1980, in 1982 Strathfield diversified into car security installations and in 1987, into mobile phones. The late 1990’s saw mobile phone sales contributing the majority of Strathfield’s revenue. Retail goods range has grown to include, in addition to the above: home entertainment and Small Office Home Office (SOHO). Retail outlets are currently over 85 Australia-wide. Since 2000, mobile phone revenues and margins have declined and in 2002, Strathfield commenced initiation of its Multi Carrier Mobile Strategy. By 2003, Strathfield was the only mobile phone retailer in Australia to offer customers a choice of Optus, Virgin Mobile, Hutchison’s ‘3’ network and Vodafone.
