Synopsis

Primus Telecommunications Australia was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Primus Telecommunications US. The company is a facilities-based total service provider offering local, domestic and international telephony, data, ADSL, ADSL2+, web hosting, VPNs and mobile services.

Although the original focus was small to medium businesses, the Primus customer base includes residential customers and large businesses. Primus undertook a major upgrade of its network by installing DSLAMs across Telstra exchanges.

By 2011, Primus had upgraded its optical transport network to DWDN and can now offer customers speeds as high as 10Gb/s.

In April 2012 M2 Communications bought the company and assets of Primus from its US based company Primus Telecommunications Group, Incorporated (PTGi).

This report was archived in 2012 as Primus is now a subsidiary of M2. For more recent information on the company and M2, see separate report at: www.budde.com.au.
