Synopsis

This report has been archive and had not been updated. PowerTel provides data, voice and Internet services to corporate, government and wholesale customers through its own fibre optic and DSL network. This includes last-mile Fibre-to-the-Building (FttB) providing access to customers in major city buildings, coupled with one of Australia’s largest DSL broadband networks. PowerTel’s combined national DSLAM network with iiNet has been deployed in over 350 exchanges. PowerTel and iiNet formed a strategic alliance that in effect provides the pair with the second largest access network in Australia. In 2007 Telecom New Zealand officially acquired 100% of PowerTel, and both AAPT and PowerTel were combined under the same operating structure, although continue to operate under different brands.
