Synopsis

Before it even commenced rolling out any services, the company was sold to AAPT in August 1999. OzPhone is an operating company of Leap Wireless International which was spun off from Qualcomm in 1998. The company also attained spectrum for remote NSW and Queensland in the 1800 MHz band. In May1999, the company announced the it is unlikely to launch services in the Australian market until early next year.
