Synopsis

IBM develops, manufactures and sells advanced information processing products, including computers and microelectronic technology, software, networking systems and information technology-related services. The company has sales and service units located in North America, Europe/Middle East/Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America. Its major operations comprise a Global Services segment, three hardware product segments, a Software segment, a Global Financing segment and an Enterprise Investments segment. In 1999, IBM commenced to pull out of the networking hardware business, transferring networking equipment to Cisco, personal computers to Dell, storage equipment to EMC and computer games to Nintendo.
