Synopsis

This report has been archived and has not been updated. Hutchison has passed through a number of transformations – from a paging company to a mobile reseller, and then to Australia’s first 3G network owner. It will be a very long time before the company can fully recover its 3G investment, however the tide is now turning – despite recording continued but improving operating losses associated with its 3G network rollout, the company showed excellent growth in mobile services revenue during 2006. Hutchison and Telstra have entered an infrastructure sharing agreement; however both companies conduct their retail 3G businesses independently of each other.
