Synopsis

Cisco Systems is a provider of networking equipment for the Internet. Its products include routers, LAN and ATM switches, dial-up access servers and network management software. Its customers are large organisations and governments with complex networking needs, Service Providers and SMEs. It sells its products in approximately 115 countries through a direct sales force, distributors, value-added resellers and system integrators. The company suffered financially after the 2001 industry downturn, but quickly returned to profitability, albeit with slightly reduced revenues during 2002 and 2003.
