Synopsis

This report was archived in 2005. Australia has many of the prerequisites that are essential for the deployment of a national broadband infrastructure. Despite this, the take-up of broadband is not yet wide spread in Australia; as a matter of fact we are lagging behind other countries that have been rolling out broadband since the late 1990s. In order to reverse the situation government leadership through vision and strategies are required. I called for a national plan at a Summit I organised in 2001. The Government launched the BAG in the following year and their recommendations were largely accepted in mid 2003.
