Synopsis

This is an archived report. It was archived in November 2009 and has not been updated. The report contains background information on the development of the mobile operators in Singapore. The energy of the mobile market in Singapore has been reflected in the character of its three major operators - SingTel, StarHub and M1. There was strong competition between these innovative service providers. All three operators were awarded 3G licences in mid-2001 and launched services in the first half of 2005, having met the mandatory launch of pilot 3G services by end-2004. This report looks at the development of the three big operators in Singapore’s mobile market.
