Synopsis

This report was archived in November 2005 and has not been updated. The telecoms market is expected to grow by 5% from $8.1 billion in 2004 to $8.5 billion in 2005. New and existing Internet subscribers are beginning to move from dial-up to broadband as broadband prices are starting to become more competitive with lower entry level prices. With mobile subscribers of 3.1 million users and a penetration level around 75%, the New Zealand market still has a few years to go before saturation is reached. Vodafone took the number one spot in mobile subscribers in New Zealand a year ago and in late 2004 had 56% of the subscriber market.
