Analyst: Paul Budde

Synopsis

The change over from a dial-up Internet market to a broadband market has seen the disappearance of a few hundred smaller ISPS during the 2005-2007 period. While in the dial-up heydays ISPS enjoyed margins of 50%, by 2007 they had dropped to 10% for broadband. Costs and maintenance of their service has however stayed the same. In the ADSL2+ market Optus and AAPT are the only two wholesale providers. Optus has become the largest wholesale provider in the international bandwidth market.
