Synopsis

This report has been archived. The Customer Access Network (CAN) is the crucial last mile connection to the customer. It exists predominantly in the form of copper cabling in every home and business premises in the country, though there are investments being made in fibre optic cable technologies. The key players and networks are profiled in this report, addressing Telstra’s national network, and the infrastructure being developed by Optus and a range of smaller carriers. Noteworthy regional carriers include TransACT, Bright and Neighbourhood cable. Similar specific networks operate in the countries CBDs, and these are also covered in this report.
