Synopsis

One of the fastest growing industries in the Australian economy, the ICT market has a sustained average annual growth rate of almost 12% over the past five years, more than 2.5 times the Australian economy average. Continued growth is expected as Australia outstrips regional market growth through to at least 2003. However, as with other industries, Australia is chiefly an importer of goods and services. This report provides an overview of Australia’s import trade, with particular focus on the telecommunications import industry. Scarce data is provided for the 1994-2001 years. The ACS ICT Trade Update for 2002 was updated in January 2003.
