Synopsis

The telco agenda for 2004 continued to be regulation-driven rather than competition-driven. This report details the fiery start of 2004 with Telstra accused of ant-competitive behaviour and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) again pointing towards structural changes. The effect of the Telecommunications Act 2002 and the initiatives subsequently undertaken by the ACCC are discussed in their reports published in mid-2004.
