A number of market surveys are regularly carried out in Australia by various public and not-for-profit organisations and members of the mobile communications industry. This report highlights and discusses information produced as a result of surveys and research conducted between 2007 and 2009. The surveys include projects which were conducted or commissioned by public sector institutions such as the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) or industry associations such as the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA). One survey, the Convergence and Communications series published by ACMA, highlights trends in the use of communications services by Australian consumers and small and medium-sized enterprises as well as customer satisfaction with mobile services. Surveys highlight a number of critical trends in the use of voice services in Australia. The most critical of these is the trend towards increasing use of the mobile networks to make voice calls and to provide Internet access.
