Synopsis

By 2006 the majority of first level domains were operated by businesses and government organisations. This report provides a range of statistical information on Australian website usage, including a list of the most popular websites in operation from research companies including Nielsen/NetRatings. A number of surveys cover topics on website usage for both the residential and business sector. The ABS’s latest Business Use of Information Technology (BUIT) survey reveals that there have been small increases in the proportion of businesses having a web presence. A 2007 survey on website usage from the E-business Sensis report is also included, along with information and updates on the major web hosting players in the local Australian market.
