Australia - Industry - Competition Issues - 1990s-2003


While competition in the Australian telecommunications market appears to be flourishing, in reality, the opposite is true. Telstra receives over 95% of all the profits in this market, has a 95% share of the local loop market, 75% of the long-distance telephone and broadband markets and 50% of the mobile telephony market. Although competition is stimulating changes, clearly, it is not working.
