The machineries of government represent the largest consumers of IT&T goods and services in each state and territory in Australia, as well as at the national/federal level. This report provides an overview of the ACT and NSW Government telecommunications activities. It includes updates on key government initiatives such as the Demand Aggregation Broker Program for broadband access and the Government’s new initiative for regional broadband access. Other state government broadband policies and strategies are also covered in this report. The NSW Government announced in January 2007 that Internet providers were being invited to take part in a new government initiative to provide free wireless broadband to the state’s major CBD areas.
