Synopsis

The machineries of government represent the largest consumers of IT&T goods and services in each State and Territory in Australia, as well as at the national/federal level. In terms of e-commerce and, to a lesser extent, broadband, a common strategy has been to use the government’s buying power to drive demand for services in the wider community. This government consumption of IT&T goods and services complements moves towards the online delivery of government services (e-government). This report looks at doing business with government at the local government level.
