Synopsis

The Internet brought us the concept of affordable data communications, broadband is taking that a step further with the concept of always on access to emails and to the Internet. Its capacity will facilitate the video revolution and this where the true value of broadband lies. It will create a new economy sector worth $90 billion by 2015. Around the world Internet household penetration levels are reaching 50%. Australia is still below 20%. By 2006 there will be at least 2.5 million broadband users. The lack of competition has seen a much lower take-up in the residential markets, prices and usage caps have been blamed. The report provides the latest information on these markets, including statistics and analyses.
