Synopsis

This report has been archived. Bucketty (population 180) is situated in the Lower Hunter Valley – on the Great North Road, midway between Sydney and Newcastle. Telecommunications services in these communities are limited to the Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) and, bearing in mind the precedence that is currently given to shareholders value; it is highly unlikely that more sophisticated services will become available in the near future. Being active in our community, and recognising what broadband could do for the residents, I recently initiated a community drive to improve the telecommunications services in our area.
