Synopsis

This report was archived in September 2007 and has not been updated since October 2006. With the arrival of IP and MPLS, the old data networks are rapidly being replaced by next generation networks. Growth in Frame Relay and ATM has come close to a standstill. Bandwidth is of course still increasing but very little new connections. ISDN is well and truly on the way out. Frame relay will be based phased out by 2010 and ATM will simply become embedded in IP/MPLS. The future of this market will continue in our NGN reports.
