Synopsis

The development of Next Generation Networks (NGNs) and Internet Protocol (IP)-based networks across Asia is being strongly driven. The growth however is mostly focused on the developed markets and has been heavily dependent on the support being provided by governments. At the same time, the development of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services has been more extensive as it has been pushed by numerous telecom operators, from a multitude of entrepreneurial operators right through to the slow moving to the incumbent. This report looks at progress in the building of NGNs and IP-networks in Asia, as well as the dynamic expansion of VoIP offerings.
