Synopsis

There has been an increasing interest in exploiting the potential synergies between the traditionally separate industries of broadcasting and telecommunications. The push towards convergence, using common infrastructure and architecture has gained more momentum with the huge improvements in technology. This has led the market to actively explore the concept of converging services involving the combined provision of TV/video, telephony and Internet services. A number of the more highly developed economies in Asia have been moving into the area of convergent networks. This report looks at how both operators and governments in the Asian markets are responding to this challenge.
