Some 80% of all homes in Taiwan own PCs and around 70% of homes have Internet connections. The market has also been rapidly moving away from dial-up access to broadband, mainly on DSL subscriptions, and 62% of all Internet connections being broadband. There are a large number of ISPs (more than 180) in Taiwan, although a handful of big ones continue to dominate the market. Taiwan is the third-ranked country in Asia for e-commerce transactions. This report looks at the Internet market in Taiwan and briefly reviews some of the major ISPs.
