Despite the popularity of ADSL in South Korea, approximately 44% of broadband Internet lines in Korea in mid-2005 used other forms of access.. South Korea is also looking forward to the introduction of WiBro broadband access, with services expected to become commercially available in 2006. This report describes the various South Korean broadband services, which include cable modem, Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) / Wireless Fidelity (WiFi), Broadband Wireless Local Loop (B-WLL), Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL), very high data rate DSL (VDSL), Fibre-to-the-Home (FttH), powerline and satellite broadband.
