Synopsis

A review is given of the technologies available and being developed for transmitting 3G mobile services. These range from WCDMA, cdma2000, TD-SCDMA, TDMA-EDGE, Multimedia Environment for Mobiles (MEMO), Multimedia Mobile Access Communication (MMAC), and wireless in-house communication. A brief history and evaluation is given for each of these technologies. There is also a discussion on progress towards 4th and 5th generation technologies.
