A high-profile security breach against the popular professional social network LinkedIn in 2012 highlighted the threat to users and the personal information they share. Over 6 million accounts were compromised with the users passwords made public. At the same time dating website eHarmony was also impacted with some of its user passwords stolen. These attacks showed that almost anyone who has signed up to websites and shared personal information is vulnerable.
