Synopsis

Archive report: this report was archived in September 2005 and has not been updated. For current information on USA fixed networks, see report USA - Telecommunications - Key Statistics. From 2002, the market for enhanced voice services in the USA began to slow. The increasing penetration of mobile phones helped to slow down the usage of payphones, however the market for calling cards and toll-free numbers continued to grow. Interest in enhanced voice services was expected to increase in 2004/2005, once the major bankruptcies and other barriers to competition lifted.
