With the development of digital technologies and broadband, cable operators and satellite operators have started to develop more competitive products to retain or improve their market shares. Central to these developments in the concept of triple play’, whereby voice, video and data applications are all delivered over one single access subscription. Faced by the loss of business to cable and satellite, telcos have stopped trying to hinder broadband developments, and have joined the rush to provide triple play services through improved broadband infrastructure such as enhanced DSL and FTTH.
