Synopsis

This report was archived in June 2006. The developed countries in Asia are leading the world in the adoption of broadband, both in therms of infrastructure and usage. Japan is also leading the world with FttH, with over 4 million users. South Korea and Taiwan are leading wireless broadband developments Other countries in the region, including Australia and New Zealand, were slow to start, but are now making progress. DSL is the preferred technology, with the various wireless technologies gaining favour for remote areas that are badly services by fixed lines.
