The Broadband Commission for Development explored the cost of FttH deployment in its 2014 report. It found that overall, deployment is actually cheaper in the developing markets due to the lower labour costs and there can be differences between regional and urban areas.
For example, in Bolivia the coast per home passed by with an FttH access line is US$750.00 per home. In Europe however, the cost per home in urban areas is €150-540. In rural areas however it climbs to €2,700.
