Synopsis

Europe’s mature 3G infrastructure and numerous commercial LTE services are providing an enormous customer base for mobile applications. Mobile TV has had a mixed reception in some markets, principally due to poor business models and customer disinterest, though sectors such as mobile payments, commerce, gaming and health are developing strongly. Improved infrastructure is enabling mobile networks to carry more data, so facilitating a range of services generating revenue for the financially beleaguered network operators.

This report reviews the key aspects of the mobile data market in Europe, including mobile TV, the fast-developing M2M sector, m-commerce and m-payments, and location based services. It assesses the potential for further growth and development to the end of the decade.
