Table of Contents
The mobile data sector offers enormous potential, reflected by the number of diverse players all vying for this market. Competition is increasing and there is some evidence that usage of mobile data content and services is starting to grow – albeit slowly. The mobile data market in Europe is potentially enormous, given the region’s population, the rapid development of mobile technologies, and the growing number of content providers. Gaming, video and music portals are available from numerous operators, and a larger proportion of 3G users are becoming aware of the capabilities of handsets. Nevertheless, mobile data use remains stymied by high costs. In areas such as mobile TV, subscribers have yet to accept that the facility is worthwhile. This report provides an overview on the mobile data market in Europe. A separate report is available on Mobile Communications for this region.
