Global - Mobile Media - Content & Services
Table of Contents
We have still only realised a small fraction of the potential of mobile content and services. However once proper wireless broadband technologies become available, this market will come into its own. By 2015 mobile (cellular) content could be worth well in excess of $1 trillion, with voice comprising only a 10% share of the market. As the convergence of services on wireless continues, some of the markets identified for growth in 2008/09 (and beyond) include mobile adult services, mobile Internet, mobile UGC and mobile sports, leisure and infotainment. The use of ‘off-deck’ (also known as ‘off-portal’) services seems to be increasing, particularly in the potentially lucrative adult content segment. This report provides an overview, analysis and statistics for the overall mobile content/services industry. It also provides brief information and published statistics on each of the key industry sectors, excluding mobile banking and mobile TV/video, which can be found in separate reports.
