The Australia-New Zealand Broadband Study and Trade Mission to The Netherlands took place in mid-March 2007 in Amsterdam and its neighbouring city, Almere. Amsterdam and Almere are the national leaders in FttH developments. Both cities have had experience with such networks in the past and are now in the process of commercial deployment. Part of the Mission was hosted by the City of Amsterdam. Here the delegates discussed the FttH rollout to 400,000 households and businesses. On the day of the Roundtable, the city connected its first FttH customers to the network.
