It appears that in 2008 there will again be considerably more talk than action. A major set back has been the collapse of OPEL earlier in the year and it is still uncertain if there will be a role for WiMAX in the NBN. Other wireless developments from companies such as Unwired, Seven and Austar. Allegro, BigAir and Clever have been somewhat of a mixed bag. They are niche market players who are steadily extending their wireless reach in the market. Wireless developments in the utilities market for M2M applications are an interesting new development. However it seems that Intel is still pushing ahead with its in-built WiMAX chip plans for Australia.
