HomePlug also assists in Demand Side Management (DSM) and utilities and access providers around the world are focusing on HomePlug in BPL applications for electric grid management, automatic meter reading applications, Command and Control and broadband to the home. This growing interest in BPL and Command and Control applications continues to be a driving force behind the HomePlug Alliance.
