USA - Broadcasting - Interactive TV

Synopsis

Archive report: this report was archived in September 2005 and has not been updated. For current information on Interactive TV in USA, see report USA - Convergence - Digital TV and Interactive TV. In 2004, the US Interactive TV market was showing signs of fast growth and mass consumer acceptance, particularly as many of the previous separate services were beginning to converge into one seamless iTV solution. The mass adoption of such services would depend on the attitudes of the movie studios and content providers, and their interest in releasing content through the digital distribution channels. Video-on-Demand and digital video recorders were both attempting to win the wallets of the US TV viewer, but by 2004, both had witnessed less than thrilling growth.
